How to Change Your Name and Contact Information in My Account

To change your name or contact information, first sign in to My Account and then follow the corresponding instructions.

Sign In

1. Go to Experience.gm.ca.

2. Select the account icon.

3. Sign in to My Account.

Changing Your Name

You can change your name manually in My Account ONLY if you do not have a connected OnStar® account. If you have a connected OnStar® account, you’ll need to contact an OnStar Advisor to change your name. Call 1.888.4ONSTAR or 1-888-466-7827, or press the blue button in your vehicle.

To change your name manually in My Account:
1. Select the Profile tab.

a. In the desktop view, the Profile tab will appear on the left side of the screen.
b. In the mobile view, the Profile tab will appear along the top of the screen. You may have to scroll left or right to see it.

2. If you do not have a connected OnStar account, a Change button will appear by your name information.
3. Select the Change button.
4. You’ll be taken to the Security page. Select the Change button by your name and follow the prompts.

Changing Your Email Address

1. Select the Security tab.

a. In the desktop view, the Security tab will appear on the left side of the screen.
b. In the mobile view, the Security tab will appear along the top of the screen. You may have to scroll left or right to see it.

2. Select the Change button next to your email address.
3. Enter your new email address.
4. Reenter your password to confirm.
5. Select Save Changes.
6. You will receive an email confirming your email address change. Select the Confirm Email button and sign in to your account within 30 minutes. Signing in will verify your new email address.

Notes:

  • If you do not confirm your email address within 30 minutes, your email change will not take effect
  • Your new email address and password will serve as the sign-in credentials for My Account

Adding or Deleting a Phone Number

1. Select the Profile tab.

a. In the desktop view, the Profile tab will appear on the left side of the screen.
b. In the mobile view, the Profile tab will appear along the top of the screen. You may have to scroll left or right to see it.

2. Select the Add Phone button to add a phone number. You can have up to four numbers.
3. Select Remove next to a phone number to delete it.
Note: Deleting a phone number deletes any alerts assigned to it (e.g., diagnostic alerts). To continue receiving alerts, you will need to add a new phone number and consent to alerts.
4. You can designate each phone number as Mobile, Home, Work or Other (each designation can be used one time).
5. Select Save.

Q&As

I cannot access my account. Do I need to update my operating system or browser?

The site will work on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac OS 10 operating systems. One of the following browsers is required, either the most recent version or the version prior to that:

Safari
Google Chrome™
Opera
Microsoft Edge

I forgot my username. How can I retrieve it?

Click on the “Forgot username” link on the login box and you will be prompted for your name, address, postal code, date of birth and phone number. After the system has validated your information, you will be prompted to enter the answer to the secret question you selected when you created the account. After you provide the correct answer, your username will appear and you will be prompted to enter your password.
